Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing education, and paraprofessionals have an important role to play in using it effectively and supporting students as they navigate an AI-enabled world. In this session, we'll explore both the opportunities and challenges AI presents in today's classrooms. Participants will discover practical ways to use AI to support their daily work, including creating social stories, adapting materials, generating visual supports, and streamlining routine tasks using accessible AI tools. We'll also take a look at how students in grades K–12 are already using AI, discussing what paraprofessionals should notice, how they can support responsible use, and potential concerns to be aware of. Throughout the session, participants will explore practical resources, including Eric Curts' AI Gems website, and leave with tools and ideas they can begin using right away.
